The USA Leads the World in Economic Competition

For the first time in over ten years, the United States ranked number one on the chart of the world’s most competitive economies

Long-term factors and new methodology helped them reach the top, more than policies of the Trump Administration. The Global Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum is factored on 100 different components in twelve categories to reflect the world’s changing, digitized world economy.

Singapore, Switzerland, Germany, and Japan followed the United States in the top five spots among 140 countries considered. In close to 40 years of the report, America last received the top honors in 2008. Last year, Switzerland was ranked number one. Most of the 30 top performers are countries with developed economies in Europe and Asia, in addition to Israel, the United Arab Emirates, China, and Qatar.
